I have been completely obsessed with too many things recently. I try to determine the direction of our stock market in the short term and long term. I try to figure out the direction of our country. I try to find new business ideas so that I can build up a huge business from scratch. I try to find new ways to do my work and make my company better. I stay up at night thinking about this crap. I stare off into space …

This past weekend, my wife and I decided to get away. We wanted to get away from work, our house and go enjoy the beach. Furthermore, I wanted to get away from CNBC, CNN, Fox News. For the past several weeks, I have been glued to the TV and to talk radio analyzing every piece of data when it comes to the financial crisis and the presidential election. I had to take a break from it. So, the solution was we went to visit family …

It’s hard to not have heard of Joe the Plumber these days if you have had the television on at all. He is now famous for questioning Presidential candidate Barack Obama on taxes which resulted in perhaps the most important four words of this election: “spread the wealth around”. How did you hold up in the recent annihilation of stocks? Did you get killed along with the majority of investors? Did you hold up ok due to a large cash position or some hedged positions? Did you make money …

With the market crashing through the 9k mark (Dow), investors are wondering when the carnage ends.  The market is down approx 37% from its peaks a year ago.
I am going to be sitting put and just watch this thing shake out.  I recently purchased more Apple shares at $90 because I like the company long term and they have plenty of cash to finance their operations.  The only other moves I may make in the short term is sell my DUG position which is up almost 50% in a matter …

I’m pretty fed up with the way our country is being led. Maybe it is the result of a perfect storm of an economic crisis combined with the typical empty political rhetoric that comes with an election. Or maybe it’s business as usual for our country. I’ll let you decide for yourself.
So, what am I so fed up with? Well, today, I’ll focus on three areas and the leadership correlated to each of them: housing, taxes and the stock market.
