I know this is hard to imagine, but there is actually a member of Congress with a great idea when it comes to helping out Americans and providing a stimulus to our economy.
Rep. Louie Gohmert has a plan to let you pay zero income, FICA or Social Security taxes for two months. Imagine the savings you would receive and best of all government does not direct where stimulus funds will go, you do!
What better way to determine what companies fail and what companies survive than by letting the consumers decide! YOU SHOULD KEEP MORE OF YOUR MONEY!

I’m a huge fan of the FairTax and I believe this tax holiday would actually spur more interest in the FairTax because Americans would again realize how much money they are being taxed for when they go two months without paying taxes then going back to paying taxes.
Withholding has made us numb to the amount of money we are taxed each pay period. Hopefully this tax holiday would make people realize, “Wow, i sure lose a great deal of money each paycheck to federal taxes”.

I’m glad to hear it. I’ve been following your blog by RSS for a while, and I appreciate your insight.
It seems to me that the FairTax idea has had a hard time gaining traction. I joined the http://www.ZAPtheIRS.com social network, but it’s still very small. I find it hard to understand the opposition to the idea by Americans. I know that Congress will never approve wholeheartedly, since taxing is their bread and butter.
I’ve looked and asked around for reasons why this is NOT a good idea, and have had no luck finding valid arguments. But on the other hand, those I’ve asked have never even heard about it. So, I guess it’s up to us to spread the word, and hopefully we can make a difference.
That wasn’t supposed to be a soapbox. I just wanted to say something along the lines of “I like your ideas, and I’m glad you think this is a good one also”, without sounding completely uninformed.
