Today, it seems, that we are living in economic bliss. The recession is over. Most people on TV at least say so. One of the brightest moments today was the overwhelming the praise of the “cash for clunkers” program where the government is basically paying people to buy a new car.

With a growing family, we have decided to shift our house around a little bit, and as a result we have needed to get rid of a good deal of junk and even some stuff that’s hardly junk. It’s truly amazing how much crap we accumulate. The pleasant surprise in this endeavor is how much cash I’ve been able to generate by getting rid of the stuff!
There are two main services I’ve been using to unload my junk: Craigslist and Amazon.

A month ago, my air conditioner for my house broke. What a pain, and when I got the repair bill, what an expense. The worst part was that I was not really prepared for this expense at all. It was a scenario that I wanted to avoid in the future. My plan was to implement the “bucket” savings and/or budgeting method.
