A large segment of internet users today has bought into the goal of making money on the web. Because of the rise of blogging and technologies like WordPress and Joomla, it is easier than ever for an individual to take a stab at earning money online.
The reality is that 99% of bloggers or other web entrepreneurs make no money at all. It’s very tough and very crowded. Understanding why it is so tough will help clarify the real opportunity for making money online.
Blogging and similar ventures can be …

In order to potentially provide a boost to my online income, I have picked up the gig as a freelance writer over at examiner.com under the Internet Business topic.  I have read conflicting reports about the income potential of writing for examiner.com, so I decided to give it a whirl myself.
The Experiment
I have decided to do a “blitz” of content creation for my Examiner account in order to get a real feel for what kind of revenue I could generate.  My plan is to generate 20 posts a week for 5 …

While I disagree whole-heartedly with many of my congressman, Alan Grayson’s positions, I am very happy that he is deciding to go after the Fed and bring some accountability to this institution.  One of the reasons I love Ron Paul is because he is also in this camp.
Check out this video of Alan Grayson questioning a Fed official regarding trillions of dollars that nobody seems to know where they went nor care about keeping track of.

I now know personally 5 people that have gotten ridiculous modifications to their mortgages.  4 of them have gotten their rate dropped to 2% for the next 5 years, and then set at around 5% after that.  2 of the 4 of these also went from an interest only loan to P&I.  Amazingly, the other person I know had their loan modified to 2.25% for the entire term of their loan!  Unbelievable.  The cost?  Nothing.
My emotions have ranged from both very happy for my friends getting some relief (some needed …

Apple is easily one of the most impressive companies out there, both as a stock and a consumer products company; the Apple strategy is even more impressive. Most people know that Apple is an extremely successful company. People recognize their products and may even know that their stock has performed well over the years. But, do they know why? Do they understand the Apple strategy?
To demonstrate a key aspect of their business strategy, it is worthwhile to compare Apple to Sony.  Sony, at one point, was …

I own and operate multiple websites. Additionally, I launch a new website probably once a month (whenever I have the idea for one). Because of this, I need a quick, simple, and cost effective way to execute the end to end process of launching a website.
This process includes the following:

Domain registration
Setting up the hosting
Installing the website platform
Create the initial content

Overview
I use two companies to handle everything. I use GoDaddy to register a domain name and I use Dreamhost to host and configure the website. Since I …

I spent the weekend at one of the best beaches in the world: Siesta Key, FL.  What an amazing place.  Furthermore, I stayed at an absolute amazing condo right on the beach.  Because of the way my mind works, I’m always thinking about investment potential.
Although I can definitely not afford a unit similar to the one I stayed in, I wanted to look into other units on the same beach.  Excellent location, crappy unit… that is the formula I am looking for.  Perhaps then, with the attraction of Siesta Key …

I’ve looked into Waste Management (WM) recently as a potential long term investment.  Most of their business is non-cyclical which means they will perform well even during a prolonged economic downturn.
Take a look at a recent Fortune interview with Waste Management’s CEO discussing the future of their business:
Embedded video from <a href=”http://money.cnn.com/video” mce_href=”http://money.cnn.com/video”>CNNMoney.com Video</a>
The part that grabs my attention the most is their drive to find high-growth, recession-resistent investments. The waste-to-energy market is where they are focusing.  Even better, most of this business is coming from abroad, both in Europe …
