You Can Get A Job

16 January 2010 2 Comments

If you’re unemployed, you can get a job.  It might not be your dream job.  Heck, it might not even be a job you like.  But, you can get a job.  The reason for this is because you have to.

You need your income.  While you’re unemployed and have zero income coming in, you are probably going in debt and you are definitely losing ground in your pursuit of your financial goals.

It’s estimated that there are 6 candidates for every job opening in America right now.  That means that you have to be better than 5 other people.  Yes, that is not an ideal situation for a job hunt, but it is still do-able.  What lengths will you go in order to land the job?

First, you need to tell yourself that you’re going to do more than the other 5 people going after your position.  You’re going to demonstrate that you’re the right person for the job.  You’re going to look the interviewer in the eye and explain with clear, confident statements that they should hire you, not them.

Do not be afraid to tell the person that you are the best person for the job.  Be sure to explain why.  You will work harder.  You will take on more.  You know you need to prove yourself.  Even if you’re not the most qualified applicant, you’re still the best.

Now go out there and do it!

So if you're unemployed, you can get a job. Yet, you acknowledge that statistically, i.e. factually, 5 people out of 6 are not going to get a job even if they try. Are you trying to be ironic?

Ironic, no. But i'm trying to encourage those who are unemployed to be determined to do what is necessary to find work. Whether it be doing everything necessary to "beat out" your competition, finding less appealing work, finding work for less money. Gotta do what is necessary. Do you disagree w/ this?
