What’s Your Income Number For Freedom?

3 January 2011 756 views 11 Comments

What is your income number for achieving the freedom and flexibility you want?  Think big here.  I’m talking total freedom.  Freedom from a 9-5 job.  Freedom from slaving for retirement savings.  Freedom of location.

What level of income do you need on a monthly basis or daily basis in order to achieve your ideal lifestyle and freedom?

My number is $500 per day.

Sure that’s a high number, and I can definitely get by on less, but I’m aiming high here.  I want to build income streams that produce $500 per dayin alternative income outside of my main job or career.

I am going to be talking about this pursuit a lot this year in 2011.  $500 per day.  That’s my pursuit.  I hope you will join me on this pursuit.

What’s your number?

Is that number reflective of working days (~200/year) or a full year (365.25)? Essentially, do you need 100k/yr or 182k/yr? Are you going to be following this post up with how you came up with that number? That would be interesting to me?

My number would be a sliding scale in that when I paid off my debt (student loans, credit cards, etc.) I would need less in the end. To start right now I would want $400/day after taxes and that is based on 250 working days a year (52 weeks – 2 weeks vacation times 5 working days each week). Once I am debt free, I would need only half that.

Instead of 5 days per week , try 6 days per week. Why should you work only 5 when most people who hold 2 or more jobs work 6 or 7 days per week. You're not being realistic!

Investment has different meanings in finance and economics. Finance investment is putting money into something with the expectation of gain, that upon thorough analysis, has a high degree of security for the principal amount, as well as security of return, within an expected period of time.

The money market consists of financial institutions and dealers in money or credit who wish to either borrow or lend. Participants borrow and lend for short periods of time, typically up to thirteen months. Money market trades in short-term financial instruments commonly called "paper." This contrasts with the capital market for longer-term funding, which is supplied by bonds and equity.
