canstockphoto27152791Have you ever met a rich person who seems to always be unhappy or angry? You probably think that if you had that much wealth, you’d never be in a bad mood. Most of the time, that bad mood comes from an unbalanced life. You know what they about all work and no play, after all!

In order to enjoy your riches, you need appreciation for the things you already have. How do you get those riches, though? These three decisions are the key to financial freedom.

1. Choose what you’re going to focus on.

This is a decision that requires careful consideration. At any one moment, a hundred things are competing for your attention. You have a choice: to focus on what’s happening at the moment or to stay focused on your goals for the future. Where your focus is, your energy will follow. Do you tend to focus on the things you have or the things you don’t have? Chances are you think about both these things throughout your day. However, it’s important to know what your habitual thoughts are. While it’s normal to sometimes think about the past, is that taking up all of your time?

It’s important to be grateful for all of the things in your life, wealth aside. You should focus your appreciation on your health, friends, family, mind, and opportunities, too. Develop this habit of appreciation to improve your well-being. When you feel good and have an optimistic outlook, you also improve your chances or attaining wealth.

2. Figure out what it all means.

The quality of your life has less to do with the things that are or are not in it and everything to do with your attitude. You can control the quality of your life by controlling how much meaning you attach to the things in your life. When you take control of your mind, your emotions are positively affected. When you have meaning created in your mind, the emotion that results will set you up to make your third important decision.

3. Decide what actions you will take.

Your actions are shaped by your emotional state. Without focusing and getting to the right emotional state, you’ll never be able to take the actions that are necessary for financial freedom. Once you’re in the right frame of mind, you’re in a perfect mental and emotional state to make a game plan, come up with a business strategy, and move forward to achieve your goals. With practice focusing and assigning the right meaning to things, it will become easier to get to the goal-setting step.

Once you’re ready to move forward, it’s also a great idea to seek out role models. Find people who are already experiencing the things you want out of life and figure out how they got there. For further inspiration from the financial industry, check out Wes Edens on wiki.
