Don’t Test Your Patience: How To Avoid The Most Common Causes Of Stress

10 January 2017 No Comment

Every now and then, life can be stressful. Actually, life can be stressful a lot of the time. But there are definitely certain times where stress is more potent than others. While a lot of the standard day-to-day activities of life can come with their fair share of slight stress and irritation, there are also those situations where you feel as though you’re about ready to explode. These often, though not always, come along at times of significant change in your life. And that’s pretty understandable. After all, change brings upheaval and uncertainty, and nothing is more stressful that not knowing what’s coming next. But there are always things that you can do. Here are some of the most common causes of stress and anxiety, as well as what you can do to help make them a little bit easier to deal with.

Changing jobs

Work might be stressful, but that’s usually nothing compared to the stress of changing jobs. First of all, you have to actually find a new job, then comes the application and the interview. Sometimes you might even have to do multiple interviews. All of this has to happen while you’re working, so you’ve got two sources of stress there at once. Then, if you do get the new job, despite being incredibly exciting, you’re still in a position where you’re in an unfamiliar place where everyone around you knows more than you do. The key is to take advantage of that fact. Make sure to ask questions and request help if you need it. By combining the skills that you already have, with the ability to ask for help, you’ll be settled in a comfortable in no time.

There’s a reason that moving house is often listed as one of, if not the most stressful thing that you’ll ever do in life. Not only do you have to deal with the financial side of moving, this is especially tough if you’re a homeowner, but the logistics of actually moving can be a nightmare. The best thing that you can do is plan ahead as much as possible. Start packing well before you think you need to. Otherwise, you’ll find that moving day will sneak up on you pretty fast. You should also consider finding moving companies who can do a lot of the legwork for you. That way, instead of endless trips in your car, you can get all of your stuff from one house to another in a single trip.

Personal relationships of all kinds, whether it’s romantic, friends or family, suffer from the same main problem: a lack of communication. That is, by far, the biggest cause of stress in most people’s day to day interactions. No one is a mind reader, and if you’re not able to communicate with the people around you, then it’s going to result in misunderstandings and frustration. By keeping clear, open lines of communication there never has to be any doubt about anyone’s thoughts or feelings. Having the tough conversations might be stressful at the moment, but it’s much more short-lived and less serious than if you ignored the problem for long periods of time.
